Bethel Methodist Church 1962

Bethel was located on old Vonore Road about 1 mile from Jackson School. Both closed due to the waters of the Tellico Dam. Bethel Church rebuilt and continues to serve the community. It is located on Vonore Road about 1 mile from Virgil Simpson’s Grocery Store.

Big Bethel Methodist AME Church in Loudo

Big Bethel AME Church was located at the intersection of Walnut Street and Cedar Street in Loudon. The church was torn down around 2009.

Built in the early 1900’s, this building burned in 1920. The church continues to serve the Loudon community after a few rebuilds and additions.

National Campground

National Campground 3

National Campground (Harold Amburn-National Campground 3) The National Campground was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. It is located one mile off Highway 95 near Greenback. This inter-denomination meeting place was first organized in 1873 as a means of uniting people who had fought on opposite sides during the Civil War. The building contains the original benches, speaker’s platform, and weather-boarding.
